Update (August 2025): HMD officially launched its first self-branded smartphone in April 2024, the HMD Vibe, confirming our earlier leak about the N159V model number. The official design closely matches the initial renders, featuring a flat display with a punch-hole selfie camera, matte-finish back, and a new HMD logo.
Original story follows
HMD is entering the smartphone market this year, and 91mobiles gives you an exclusive look at the official render of the upcoming device. The company was using the Nokia brand to release its smartphones globally, and for the first time, it will release a phone under the “HMD” name. The company is expected to launch at least two phones, as spotted last year on the IMEI database.
HMD smartphone’s first official render reveals design
The two HMD smartphones spotted on the IMEI database had the model number N159V and TA-1585. 91mobiles has exclusively received images from industry sources of HMD’s first smartphone with the model number N159V, the moniker of which is still unknown.
HMD’s first smartphone seems to be a lower midrange device based on its design. The phone features a matte-finished back in a black colour option. While the material of the back panel is unknown to us, the frame could be made of plastic based on the lack of antenna lines.
On the front, the device features a punch-hole selfie camera on its flat display. The power and volume buttons lie on the right side of the device. The phone also features a new HMD logo spotted in an EUIPO listing last year. The brand could continue with this new brand identity for its line of phones.
Since the model numbers N159V and TA-1585 were certified on the IMEI database on the same day last year, they could belong to the same device pictured above. The difference in model number could be due to regional and carrier deals. HMD is expected to make its new smartphone available globally. 91mobiles confirmed earlier this year that the HMD-branded phones will launch in India as soon as April.
